Because of advancing age, genetic factors and lifestyle, aesthetic problems may occur on one or both of the eyelids, which cause one person to look older and more tired than s/he is. Aesthetic problems that sometimes occur on the eyelids may even narrow the field of vision.
In this case, the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both can be interfered with eyelid aesthetics in order to meet both cosmetic and functional needs.
The facial aesthetic operations, which are performed to remove eyelid deformations being saggy and causing the person to look older than s/he is, and to rejuvenate the area around the eyes by removing excess skin, are called “Blepharoplasty” or eyelid aesthetics.

Blepharoplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia in accordance with the information obtained as a result of the evaluation of the patient’s general health status as well as the opinions of surgeons.
During the upper eyelid aesthetics, an incision is made from the natural fold of the eye; excess skin and fat tissue in the area are removed and the muscles are tightened.
During the lower eyelid aesthetics, fat deposits and excess skin in the area are removed from the incisions made from the eyelash roots. If necessary, it may be also required to repair the connective tissues in the lower eyelid and to shape the fat deposits that cause under-eye bags.
Eyelid aesthetics is a surgical procedure, so it is normal for patients to experience complaints such as bruising and edema for a while in the post-operative process. After the eyelid aesthetics, where the final outcomes appear after 1 – 2 months, people look 5 – 10 years younger. Although it has a permanent effect, changes in the eyelids may occur during the normal aging cycle. In other words, aging in the eyelids cannot be prevented after eyelid aesthetics, but time becomes reversed.
